Dr Christina Bjorndal
Dr. Christina Bjorndal, B.Comm, ND, graduated from UBC in 1990 with honours and was Valedictorian of her Bachelor of Commerce class. She completed her Doctorate in naturopathic medicine from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2005. She is one of the only licensed NDs in Canada who is considered an authority in the treatment of mental illnesses such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders and eating disorders. She struggled with her mental health for many years before Dr. Abram Hoffer taught her about the role of nutrition and mental health. Once recovered, Dr. Chris made a career change to become a naturopathic doctor. Many don't get the message that they can heal from depression, anxiety, bulimia or bipolar disorder and Dr. Chris is someone who has regained her mental health from all of these mental health labels. As someone that has experienced suicide and psychosis and was on five psychiatric medications at one point, she loves to share with audiences how healing is possible using naturopathic medicine. A gifted speaker, best-selling author, and a top ND to follow, she shares her personal story and philosophy of wellness with audiences across North America and Europe and has appeared on many health summits, docuseries and radio shows with icons such as Jenny McCarthy and many others. Dr. Chris has helped many patients navigate towards physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. Dr. Chris is especially exceptional about sharing her motivational speeches about how to overcome barriers in life and to encourage others to achieve their full potential. She has completed four books on mental health as well as a 10-week course for both patients and clinicians. Her book Beyond the Label: 10 Steps to Improve your Mental Health with Naturopathic Medicine is considered a comprehensive mental health guide.
