Alex has an MSc in Chemistry from the University of Cambridge and a PhD in Physics from the University of Oxford. After working as a consultant physicist for almost ten years (specialising in medical and diagnostic devices), Alex became convinced that the need for greater availability of high quality lifestyle and functional medicine was so pressing that he decided to retrain.

Alex now runs Cambridge Functional Medicine, a busy practice in the fens, and works with patients with a diverse range of conditions.

Alex is also the founder of the British Network for Functional Medicine, a society aiming to support functional medicine practitioners and allow the community to work together to promote the spread of high quality functional medicine.
