The therapeutic potential of psilocybin
Psilocybin, the active compound in magic mushrooms, may be at least as effective as a leading antidepressant medication in a therapeutic setting. Dr Roberta Murphy, a psychiatrist and was involved as a study doctor and guide on a research trial investigating the use of Psilocybin for moderate to severe depression, PSILODEP 2 at the Centre for Psychedelic Research at Imperial College London. In her presentation she will discuss her experiences on this trial and also her recent publication on the role of the therapeutic alliance in psychedelic therapy, emphasising the complexity of healing and the importance of relationships and care in the process.
