The Wren Project

Stand: F5

The Wren Project is a registered charity which supports people diagnosed with autoimmune disease (Wrens) to talk about the emotional and social impact of diagnosis, through transformative sessions of active listening with trained volunteers.

Their impact measurement shows that this focused, consistent listening support helps to alleviate the emotional turmoil of an autoimmune diagnosis, providing Wrens with the tools to successfully navigate their disease and new life. Their impact highlights include:

  • They provide support where other sources have failed, been inappropriate, or simply not available.
  • They make a positive change in an individual’s life. Psychosocial and listening support reduces isolation, improves mental health, and builds autonomy. They see a marked improvement in their four core outcome areas: resilience, loneliness, distress and the ability to manage their disease.
  • They build ongoing and diverse community of Wren Ambassadors - directed by the Wrens who have “graduated” from the Wren Project - providing a lasting difference beyond the initial individual listening support.
