The Urinary Microbiome - taking into consideration the ecosystem

Up until recently, the urinary system was thought to be sterile, only becoming colonised with bacteria under cases of infection. However, changes in technology now allow us to identify multiple species of bacteria that are indigenous to the urinary microbiome. In this discussion Debbie will outline the paradox change – and how to start thinking about the urinary microbiome and how it intercepts with other microbiomes such as the vaginal and gut.
