Metabolism of Sex Hormones
This workshop will provide context about how and where hormones are produced and explain the Phase I and Phase II detoxification pathways for oestrogens, including how they are metabolised and excreted. The implications of the pathways will be explored along with the risks and concerns. Practitioners will also learn how they can influence those pathways with medication and supplements.
Additionally, the talk will cover methylation and the impact of genes COMT and MTHF along with vitamin production as a co-factor in metabolic pathways. The connection between healthy sex hormone levels and cortisol will be discussed along with the impact of stress. Finally, the importance of healthy levels of neurotransmitters such as serotonin and dopamine will be explored and how to maintain these.
