Managing chronic pain with lifestyle changes
Chronic pain, either due to musculoskeletal or other nerve conditions, is a long term disease conditions affecting almost 40% of the UK population. For too long, the mainstream solutions to pain have been stronger medication including opioids or more invasive surgeries, neither of which have solved the issue and in fact caused more harm. At the same time, this kind of biomedical focus of care has been unsustainable economically and emotionally. With better understanding of the neuroscience, we can appreciate the role and the vital importance of evidence-based lifestyle measures and approaches to chronic pain management. This talk/workshop by the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine (BLSM) and Dr Deepak Ravindran (BSLM Certified Diplomate), will focus on the newer advances in pain neuroscience and the opportunities afforded by lifestyle medicine in relieving chronic pain.
