Calcium Signalling Dysfunction in Aging Related Degenerative Diseases
This session will provide an overview of the current understanding of calcium homeostasis in the body, with a specific focus on the role of aging-related cellular calcium signalling dysfunction in the onset of degenerative disease. Differentiation between protein-bound and ionic calcium will be discussed, as will the role of the bones and related hormones in regulated calcium in vivo. The discussion will include mediation of calcium regulation via common prescription drugs as well as the latest nutritional approach, focusing on the latest development in ionic calcium therapy including antiorbital ionic calcium.
